Sabalan

Volcano number:232002
Region:Middle East and Indian Ocean
Country:Iran
Geodetic measurements?Yes
Deformation observation?Yes
Measurement method(s):InSAR
Duration of observation:2003 to 2010
Inferred cause of deformation:Uncertain
Characteristics of deformation:

Shirzaei et al. (2012) present Envisat radar InSAR images from 2003 through 2010 at all Iranian volcanoes, using multitemporal interferometric analysis.

The authors present evidence of time-dependent surface displacements at both Sabalan and Sahand volcanoes. The sources of the observed deformation is subject of ongoing research and no further detail is presented.
